Dr. Robert Wade, DDS, MS, LMHC
Dr. Bob has an extensive and varied background in health care. After completing his Master of Science degree in Counseling at Creighton University, he spent ten years as a clinical mental health counselor in Iowa and Nebraska seeing children, individuals, and families primarily helping them to deal with anxiety and depression often arising from trauma. He believes strongly in tailoring care to the individual and their specific needs.
Bob refers to himself as the “Poster child” for lifelong learning and adaptation. He attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and was accepted for and completed graduate education as a Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. Again, his interest in helping people with anxiety and life challenges was at the heart of this program of study.
Bob practiced as a pediatric dentist in the Des Moines metro area until 2019 when he decided to retire early to spend time with his family and travel. As nice as that was, his lifelong enthusiasm for helping people with their life challenges was going unmet, so he reactivated his license as a mental health counselor and joined Des Moines/Ames Therapy and Consulting as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Bob has extensive knowledge of human anatomy, especially of the head and neck, and the effects of both mental and physical trauma. Merging his years of study and practice in mental and physical health care, Bob is excited to welcome you to a new beginning of your own!

Bob has been married for 37 years (and counting) and has two grown children. His daughter lives in the Des Moines area and his son teaches at a University in China. Bob and his wife enjoy traveling, especially with his two dogs. Bob is active in active in multicultural advocacy, especially in the area of international adoption. He enjoys anything related to technology, especially cars, and playing with his two dogs.
